After 2 years of travelling & working in the slums of India, Sam IJsbrandy (1982) came back to The Netherlands. Spending time in Asia, she learned that empowering women was very benificial for the local underprivileged communities. Once returned, home Sam was driven to start a company that makes contemporary products in a fair trade environment.
Born in Hungary, Anita Bakos (1977) followed her heart to The Netherlands. Having worked for a fashion house in Budapest, she knew she wanted to stay in the industry. Anita graduated cum laude at the Styling Academy in Amsterdam with an eco-friendly concept.
The two stylists met just briefly before Sam went on her adventure to India. They kept in touch ever since.
Since sharing the same ideas, Sam and Anita thought the timimg was right to get together. In 2010 Zilalila was founded; One is becoming the many, and the many is becoming the one. A way of life that reaches past the mass production of today.
Zilalila works from sketch to final product and takes care that you become the owner of a handmade product with a human touch in a fair trade environment.
